May in the scout way :)

   Hello!

Kamila here :) The last few days were quite hectic for our district. Here's my account of the last events :)

The 2nd of May:

On the second of May we were celebrating National Flag's Day. This festivity is quite young - in Poland, we started celebrating it just 10 years ago. However, we - scouts from Siedlce - didn't forget about directing people's attention to it. In the morning we gathered up near the town hall and got everything started.
In the beggining we handed the little flags to the passers, who were smiling brightly at us. We also painted them on the cheeks of the youngest children (and on our own cheeks, too ;) ).

On the photo: On the right you can see me, the scout on the left is our friend from another patrol, Ala, and in the back and in the middle you can see Mrs Monika, our Assistant Leader.

Next, the National Anthem was played, and then the scouts from out district pulled up the flag on the mast.

After the sublime part of the day, we joyfully danced around. It was a great way to integrate everyone, not only the scouts, but also the "civilians" :)

We ended the celebration with a group photo:

And that's how we spent the second of May. It was a very festive and happy day, especially for scouts :)

The 3rd of May

The photos included in this part of post were taken by Mr Jarosław Grudziński.

This is a very important day for Polish people, celebrated in honor of adopting the Constitution of May 3. In Siedlce, the celebration was very festive. They started with a mass in the Cathedral, that was led by bishop Piotr Sawczuk. The standard-bearers of different schools and organizations from Siedlce took part in it.

After the Eucharist, the procession started. The representants of different organizations proudly walked through the streets, giving in to the wonderful atmosphere.

The photo below shows, from lef to right: Ania from our patrol, our friend Radek and me :) We prodly carried out the role of standard-bearers. It was a real honour.

The procession ended on the square near the town hall, near the monument of Thaddeus Kosciuszko. There, the festive speeches started. After them, the flowers were put near the monument. Also, some people from the Riflemen's Association "Rifleman" swore an oath.

On the photo below you can see Ola, Mateusz and Gabrysia, scouts from our district, as standard-bearers.

Here, you can watch two short clips from the procession :) Number 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QfLOXPjKko Numberr 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZlGrYAwGkk&feature=youtu.be&t=2m

I hope that the beggining of May was nice for you all, too. How did you celebrate? A penny for your thoughts, guys! :)

Bye-bye! :)

PS: Sorry for all the mistakes. I'm still learning and I swear I've tried my best to write it all down as well as I could. Feel free to correct me, it'll certainly help me! :)
